About This Service
Our telehealth service connects you with your care team through secure video visits, making it easier to access the expertise you need without leaving home. Through our virtual care model, patients can meet with clinicians, discuss treatment options and follow up on their health, all from a location that works best for them.
Many of the same services available during in-person appointments can also be delivered virtually, helping us meet your needs with greater flexibility and convenience.
How it works
To schedule a telehealth appointment with UT Medicine:
- Request an appointment by calling 1-833-UT-CARES (1-833-882-2737). A health access partner will help schedule your visit with the appropriate care team.
- Provide an active email address and phone number. Once confirmed, you’ll receive pre-visit forms and a Zoom link for your virtual appointment.
- Complete the required forms before your visit. These forms give your provider the information needed to deliver personalized care. Without them, your appointment may be delayed.
- Join your visit via Zoom. You'll receive a link with the date and time of your appointment, typically the day before. If you don't receive your link at least two hours prior to your scheduled visit, call 1-833-UT-CARES.
Tips for a successful telehealth visit
To make the most of your virtual appointment:
- First, create a free Zoom account here.
- Have a list of your current medications and medical history ready.
- If available, keep a thermometer, blood pressure cuff or pulse-checking device nearby.
- Use a quiet, well-lit space free of distractions.
- Rest your device on a sturdy surface and keep it 18–24 inches away to ensure your provider can see you clearly.
- Test your Zoom audio and video ahead of the appointment time.
Your privacy matters
UT Medicine uses a secure version of Zoom specifically designed for healthcare. This platform meets high privacy and encryption standards, including:
- AES 256-bit encryption for secure video and audio communication.
- Secure waiting rooms and access control features.
- A Business Associate Agreement between Zoom and UT Medicine to meet HIPAA requirements.
Your health information is protected through every step of your virtual visit, just as it would be in person.
