About the Imaging Center

The Imaging Center is built around the same whole-person approach that guides our specialty care teams. If your provider orders imaging as part of your visit, in most cases, it can be completed during the same appointment — no need to wait days or travel to a separate location.

By offering advanced imaging services on-site and on demand, we help save you time and streamline your care. Imaging studies are coordinated with your treatment plan, so your care team has the information they need to support next steps right away.

Advanced imaging options

We offer a wide range of advanced diagnostic imaging services, including:

  • CT (Computed Tomography): Produces detailed images of internal organs, bones, soft tissue and blood vessels.
  • MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging): Offers highly detailed views of organs, muscles and bones to help identify disease and guide diagnosis.
  • PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography – Computed Tomography): Allows providers to detect changes in the body at the cellular level, often before other imaging methods can.

Diagnostic X-ray

Our Imaging Center provides diagnostic X-ray studies, including:

Upper body:

  • Elbow, fingers, forearm, hands, humerus, shoulders, wrists

Lower body:

  • Ankle, femur, foot, hip, knee, pelvis, toes

Fluoroscopy studies:

  • Barium enema, barium swallows, IVP, modified barium swallows, upper GI series

Other studies:

  • Abdomen/pelvis, bone age and length, chest X-ray, ribs, scoliosis, cervical/lumbar/thoracic spine

Additional Diagnostic Services

  • Bone densitometry: Bone density and body composition screening
  • Ultrasound: Abdomen, pelvis, transvaginal, lower extremities, vascular studies (arterial, carotid, venous Doppler)
  • Women’s health imaging: 3D mammography, bone density screening

Test results

Your lab results may appear in your UT Medicine patient portal before your provider has reviewed them. Once they do, your provider will notify you through the portal with any updates, recommendations or next steps.
